The small print

Privacy notice

The short version: you can read every guide without giving us anything. We collect very little, we do not sell it and you can ask us to delete it.

Last updated 1 October 2026

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to fix the site if you have reported a problem. We keep the thread for up to two years, then delete it.

Information collected when you visit

Like every website, our server receives technical information when a page loads: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. Our host keeps these logs for security and to keep the site running, and deletes them on a rolling basis.

Some guides may use measurement tools, such as Google Analytics, to count visits and see which retailer links are clicked. Where they are used, they are described on our cookies page.

When you click through to a retailer

Retailer sites have their own privacy policies. Once you leave Buyers Ledger, what happens to your data is between you and that retailer. A retailer may tell us that a sale happened through our link, but not who you are.

Our legal reasons

  • Replying to you: our legitimate interest in answering readers, or your consent when you write to us.
  • Server logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working.
  • Measurement tools: your consent where the law requires it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the UK, the EU and US states such as California, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it or object to how we use it. We do not sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will answer within one month. If you are in the UK and unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Buyers Ledger is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of the page.
