How we are paid
A site about costs should be clear about its own. Here is where our money comes from and the rules we keep.

Retailer commission
Some links in our guides go to retailers that pay us a small commission when someone buys. The price you pay is the same either way. These links are marked as sponsored in the page code, which tells search engines what they are.
What commission does not do
- It does not decide which products make a list. Many of the products we cover pay us nothing.
- It does not decide the order. The order follows the rating, and the rating follows the method.
- It does not buy a review. We do not accept payment to cover a product, and we do not publish sponsored guides.
Brands and samples
We do not let brands read a guide before it is published or ask them to approve what we write. If a brand sends us information, we treat it like any other source and check it.
Advertising
We may promote our own guides through search and social advertising so more people find them. That is us paying for attention, not brands paying us, and it has no effect on what a guide says.
